Looking beyond… Then seeing it through…
Research on board TECTONA.
Tectona's relationship with Plymouth University is not just historical, it is alive and well. In 2010-2011 the Department of Psychology has begun a research project with Tectona trainees to answer some of the questions.
She will become an "Internal Research" ship. We are familiar with the idea of a research ship looking outward to understand the environment, marine life or conservation. This project looks inward to try and deepen our understanding of the processes of learning and change happening in the people on board.
The results of this work will be available to all, so that the benefits of this knowledge can be applied wherever young people are going to sea to transform their lives.
